Crop Farming: Calculators & Tools
The calculators and planners inside Crop Farming, and what each is for.
These tools use your own holding data rather than illustrative figures, and each one shows its method so you can check the working rather than trust the output.

Crop Gross Margin Calculator
Work out gross margin per hectare for a crop, with the variable costs itemised so you can see where the margin actually goes.
How this is calculated
Crop output equals yield multiplied by price, plus attributed scheme income. Gross margin equals output minus the sum of variable costs. Break-even yield equals total variable costs divided by price.
Gross margin excludes fixed costs, rent, finance and depreciation, so it is not profit. Use enterprise costing for the full picture.

Answers you can check, using your own numbers
Every calculator shows its method. If you disagree with an assumption you can see it, change it, and see what it does to the answer.
Four-Nation Scheme Eligibility Check
Answer six questions and see every UK support scheme your business is likely to be eligible for, ranked by indicative value.
Open the calculatorCrop Gross Margin Calculator

Open the calculatorNutrient Requirement Calculator
Calculate a field nitrogen requirement from target yield, soil supply, manure credits and previous cropping.
Open the calculatorWoodland Income Stacking Calculator
See creation grant, maintenance payment, carbon units and biodiversity units modelled together over the project life, against the agricultural margin you give up.
Open the calculatorBiodiversity Unit Calculator
Estimate the biodiversity units a habitat creation or enhancement scheme would generate, and compare thirty years of income against the farming margin it replaces.
Open the calculatorFarm Carbon Footprint Estimator
A first-pass emissions estimate from the activity data most farms already have, showing where the emissions actually sit.
Open the calculatorInheritance Relief Exposure Model
Model qualifying property against the relief cap for an individual and for a couple, including the instalment option.
Open the calculatorRainwater Harvesting Calculator
Size the harvest available from your roofs, the storage needed to make it reliable, and the payback against what you currently pay for water.
Open the calculatorTrue Machinery Cost Calculator
Work out what a machine actually costs per hour and per hectare, including the depreciation nobody sees in the cashbook.
Open the calculatorCost of Herbicide Resistance Calculator
Apply the published margin penalty from resistant blackgrass to your own area and pressure, and see what a cultural programme is worth.
Open the calculatorMargin Over Purchased Feed
The weekly number that tells a dairy business whether it is making money, calculated from your own milk price and feed cost.
Open the calculatorCost of Liveweight Gain
What a kilogram of gain actually costs, so a store purchase decision is made on the number rather than on the day.
Open the calculatorHedgerow Income Calculator
Every metre of boundary, mapped to every scheme action that could pay for it, in your nation.
Open the calculatorSolar Self-Consumption and Payback
The return on farm solar is driven by self-consumption, not by generation. This works out both.
Open the calculatorAnnual Forage Budget
Balance what the grassland will grow against what the stock will eat, and find the deficit before it becomes a feed bill.
Open the calculatorGrain Drying Cost Calculator
The cost of taking each percentage point of moisture out of a tonne of grain, and whether it beats the drying deduction.
Open the calculatorSpray Buffer Zone Checker
Work out the no-spray distance required for a product next to a watercourse, and whether a reduction applies.
Open the calculatorSeasonal Cashflow and Peak Borrowing
Find the point in the year when the business needs the most money, which is the number the facility has to cover.
Open the calculatorAssurance Audit Readiness Score
Ten questions that predict most audit non-conformances, scored with a prioritised list of what to fix first.
Open the calculatorBreak-Even Selling Price
The price below which selling loses money, calculated from your own cost of production.
Open the calculatorAbstraction Licence Position
Where you are against your authorised volume, and how many days of headroom remain at current use.
Open the calculatorCost Per Kilogram of Nutrient
Compare fertiliser products on what actually matters — the cost of the nutrient, not the price of the bag.
Open the calculatorGlamping Unit Appraisal
Break-even occupancy for a proposed unit, including the utility and access costs that are usually forgotten.

How this compares with businesses like yours
A cohort is only useful if it is genuinely comparable, so it is built from farm type, soil grade, region and scale rather than from whoever happens to have signed up. Your own figure is never shown to anyone else.

Questions answered
What people ask about Crop Farming
Does this replace the software I already use?
Not necessarily. Agrivencia integrates with authoritative sources and mainstream packages rather than insisting on replacing them. Where an incumbent does one job well, the platform connects to it; where the job spans several systems and nobody does it, the platform does it.
Will it work where I have no signal?
Yes. Field capture in Crop Farming is offline first, storing locally and synchronising when a connection returns. Only around a fifth of UK farms report reliable signal across the whole holding, so this is a design assumption rather than a feature.
What happens when the scheme rules change?
Scheme rules are held as data rather than code, so a rate change, a cap change or a window closure is a content update that takes effect the same day. The platform also alerts you to what the change does to your own position.
Who owns the data I put in?
You do. The Farm Data Charter gives you a complete export in open formats at any time, and every instance of data sharing requires an explicit, revocable consent that is visible in your account.
Does it work if I farm across a border?
Yes, and that is one of the main reasons the platform exists. A business with land in more than one nation sees one reconciled view rather than two portals, with obligations and deadlines from both administrations in a single calendar.
Can my agronomist or land agent use it too?
Yes. You grant scoped, time-limited access per holding and per module, and you can revoke it in one click. Advisers never get a shared password or a blanket view.
What is the biggest limitation of this module?
Rural connectivity gaps. Mitigated by offline-first capture and deferred sync. We would rather state that plainly than let you discover it after signing.
