What is actually happening in nutrient Management in the UK
Nutrient planning obligations differ by nation and are tightening. Scotland's Whole Farm Plan requires a Nutrient Management Plan, Wales operates all-Wales agricultural pollution rules, Northern Ireland runs the Soil Nutrient Health Scheme with a payment penalty for non-participation, and England applies Farming Rules for Water and Nitrate Vulnerable Zone rules. Each demands a slightly different artefact from what is fundamentally the same underlying calculation.

How this is calculated
Requirement equals target yield nitrogen offtake, minus soil nitrogen supply for the index, minus crop-available nitrogen from applied organic manures adjusted for type, method and timing, minus any previous crop residue credit.
Figures follow published nutrient management guidance. A qualified adviser should sign off any plan used for regulatory or scheme purposes.

What people ask about Nutrient Management
Does this replace the software I already use?

Will it work where I have no signal?

Scheme rules are held as data rather than code, so a rate change, a cap change or a window closure is a content update that takes effect the same day. The platform also alerts you to what the change does to your own position.
Who owns the data I put in?
You do. The Farm Data Charter gives you a complete export in open formats at any time, and every instance of data sharing requires an explicit, revocable consent that is visible in your account.
Does it work if I farm across a border?

What is the biggest limitation of this module?
