This module runs repeatable sampling at fixed georeferenced points, holds laboratory results in a single comparable series regardless of which lab did the work, records visual structure assessment, and produces the soil evidence that schemes, carbon calculators and lenders increasingly ask for.

Why Soil Health exists

Soil is the asset every other module depends on and the one with the weakest measurement discipline. This module runs repeatable sampling at fixed georeferenced points, holds laboratory results in a single comparable series regardless of which lab did the work, records visual structure assessment, and produces the soil evidence that schemes, carbon calculators and lenders increasingly ask for.

The Environmental Improvement Plan target commits to 60 per cent of agricultural soil in sustainable management by 2030, but there is no national soil condition baseline against which that can be measured at farm level. Soil sampling on most holdings is done on an irregular cycle by whichever adviser is engaged, using different depths and different laboratories, which makes the results non-comparable across years — the single biggest obstacle to demonstrating improvement.

Everything Soil Health records is written into the same platform data spine as every other module, which is why a single entry can satisfy an operational need, a scheme evidence requirement, an assurance clause and a carbon activity line at once.
